Preparing To Move

Preparing the contents of your work area is vital in helping Excel provide as efficient a relocation as possible. We have listed a few tips designed to make your move easier. Among these tips are:

  • COMPLETELY FILL UP EACH CARTON - When packing the contents of your desk, credenza, bookcase etc… always pack the carton to the top. Be careful not to pack above the top of the carton, as the cartons will be stacked when moving, and may fall over. Also, be sure to fill the carton, as half full boxed will have a tendency to cave in when stacked. All contents of your desk, lateral file cabinets; bookcases and credenzas must be completely packed.
  • LABEL EACH ITEM ONLY ONCE - Place your designated label on the end of the carton. You only need to write your workstation number on the label. Do not write on the carton itself, or write anything else on the label, unless the item is in a series of items (such as one of four file cabinets). Make sure to put a label on all items to be moved; including typewriters, computers, chairs and wastebaskets. If any item separated into pieces, be sure to label each piece.
  • MOVE PERSONAL ITEMS YOURSELF - We cannot be responsible for personal items such as coffee cups and pictures. We advise that you take them with you on your last day at your present location. We suggest that you take any keys that you may have with you.
  • PROVIDE A MAP OF YOUR PREFERRED OFFICE SETUP - We will attempt to configure your office to your specifications if you give us a diagram of your furniture setup.
